Purpose of These Norms
Infrastructure norms set out the minimum physical and technical standards that an institution must maintain to be considered for affiliation and to retain that affiliation over time. These standards are designed to ensure a safe, functional, and conducive learning environment for students and staff alike.
Institutions are expected to maintain these standards continuously, not merely at the time of application, since compliance is reviewed again at every renewal cycle.
Minimum Infrastructure Standards
- Adequate classroom space proportionate to sanctioned student strength
- Functional laboratory facilities appropriate to the courses offered
- Fire safety and emergency evacuation equipment in working condition
- Reliable ICT infrastructure including internet connectivity and computer labs
- Accessibility provisions such as ramps and accessible washrooms for persons with disabilities
- A library with adequate seating, reference material, and digital resources
- Clean drinking water and sanitation facilities on campus
- Adequate power backup arrangements for uninterrupted academic activity
Site Inspection and Verification
Compliance with infrastructure norms is confirmed through a physical site inspection carried out by a designated verification team. Institutions can review the outcome and current standing of their infrastructure verification on the Verify Institution page.
- Inspection visits are scheduled after preliminary document review is complete
- Institutions are notified in advance of the proposed inspection date
- Observations are recorded and shared with the institution for response
- Re-inspection may be arranged where deficiencies are identified
- Verified status is reflected on the institution's public profile once cleared
